While I was in Berlin I visited the Museum of technology (Technikmuseum). We found it quickly, as there was a huge aeroplane on top of the building. In my previous post, I mentioned that the Berlin Welcome Card gave me a discount for museums. This one was no exception. The admission for it was 8 EUR, but we paid 5 EUR. The museum is quite rich and people spend there around 3 hours. We walked around the exhibitions that covered different aspects of technology. The first thing we saw was the textile technology…

After that, we reached the telecommunications' section. The exhibition here displayed the first pointer telegraph to the latest phone devices.

The film technology was also impressive.

Are you a math lover? Then the mathematics and computer science exhibition are just for you.

One of the best things in the museum was the rail transport exhibit. Here we saw steam engines, the first ever electric railway (invented by Siemens), express locomotives, and diesel engines. We also took a peek inside some of the most famous trains’ cabs.

We also wanted to see the historical brewery but by the time we were in the museum, it was closed.

The highlight for me was the photo technology exposition. There was a huge variety of cameras exposed.

The road traffic was the final exhibition we saw. It’s a collection of different car models.

  3. Wow! It definitely looks like a place that I would love to visit and spend few hour at. Seeing that type of techonlogy really makes you think how much our society has achieved. I'll need to show the part with the cameras to Ulises :D I especially like the train cabins and old suitcases... So dreamy :) <3
    Enjoy the weekend!

  4. The photo technology exposition would be a highlight for me as well since I collect vintage cameras but really the entire museum looks fascinating. It's always cool to see early versions of technology that we now rely on. I mean how far have phones come. Thanks for sharing your experience with us and happy weekend Sany!

This museum looks interesting. I could definitely spend a whole day there. I would have liked to see the cars and cameras exhibition, not into the mathematics 😁

  11. How cool is this museum! I'm not well versed in the history of tech, even cameras (except for the obvious ones) but it would still be so amazing to check these out (maybe not the maths section hahahaha). I'd really love to see those train carriages. There's just something so romantic about them

    1. I am not an expert in the tech history either, but this museum is very entertaining and rich. The math section actually was more related to the first computers. Yes, right? The carriages look lovely!

  12. Hi Sany! Sounds like your visit in Museum of Technology was terrific, I'm really impressed on rich and unique collection of this museum, I'm sure that everyone will find something appropriate from yourself. I'm amazed on rail transport exhibit too, it looks divine and so, so climatic, looking at those photos, I could easily go out to the times, when similar very first electric railways came into the market. What's more good to know that Berlin welcome card gave you some discounts for this place.
Have a lovely evening, dear friend :)
