Veliko Tarnovo is located in north central Bulgaria. It is famous for being the historical capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire. A preferred destination by Bulgarians, it attracts tourists from all over the world due to its unique architecture, and great surrounding nature. The old part of the city is well preserved until today. People are friendly, and there are some nice restaurants and bars that represent the artistic atmosphere of the city.

One of the main tourist attractions is the "Samovodska Charshia" street in the Old town. Its development began in the 19th century as a marketplace, a home of craftsmen workshops that continued creating after the Liberation from the Ottoman domination in Bulgaria. Walking on the paved streets, you will notice craftsmen's shops of all kinds from the past that will take you back in time.

One of the restaurants I highly recommend you pay a visit is "Shtastliveca". The restaurant developed a lot through the years, and now it is a symbol of Veliko Tarnovo. My choice was the authentic Shopska salad, as well as chicken fillets grilled with parsley and garlic. The food and the service were excellent.

If you fancy visiting a more art-like place, then snack-bar "Malkiya Inter" is your place. Pizza lovers should check "Casa di Bianco" restaurant. Bar "Fresh" is the place for healthy snacks, and art club "Tam" is a meeting spot for youngsters. I cannot guarantee you will enjoy it, but if you want to try the local beer, go for the draft "Bolyarka". Pay attention to the places where parking is not allowed, because you will end up paying a fee. Next post will be dedicated to the magic of "General Gurko" street and the “Tsarevgrad Tarnov" – Sound and Light” show.

It's nice when places still retain their history like this and make you feel as you've gone back in time when you visit. You are killing me with that food. The salad and chicken both look so authentic and delcious! And how cute are you playing tourist! If I ever get to visit Bulgaria, can you please be my tour guide ;D

  5. What an incredible place to visit. Cities like this with such rich history even in the streets are my favourite. I like old shops and nostalgic signs from decades ago. I find the same feeling in certain parts of Austria and Germany quite a lot. Thanks for sharing your brilliant photos. <3

  6. Hello Sany! I'm impressed on that place, it looks like from fairly tale, it's really magical and I'd love to see it on live, especially I love 2nd photo <3 What's more, that Shopska salad with that chicken looks so delicious and healthy, it's clear that it was made with the freshnest and finest products (which believe me, sometimes it isn't the rule when it comes to eating out). Sounds like it was terrific trip, dear friend :)
